Synopsis:

Based on the bestselling horror videogame series, Five Nights at Freddy’s.

It’s been exactly ten years since the murders at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, and Charlotte (Charlie for short) has spent those ten years trying to forget. Her father was the owner of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and the creator of its four adult-sized animatronic animals, and now Charlie is returning to her hometown to reunite with her childhood friends on the anniversary of the tragedy that ripped their town apart.
Curiosity leads Charlie and her friends back to the old pizza place, and they find it hidden and sealed, but still standing. They discover a way inside, but things are not as they once were: the four mascots that delighted and entertained them as children have changed. The animatronic animals have a dark secret, and a murderous agenda.

Review:

Anyone who is a fan of the FNAF franchise and game series will love this book. If you are unfamiliar with the franchise this book may not be for you.

The Silver Eyes adds more backstory to the world that Cawthon had already created with the five original games and Sister Location. (Check out steam if interested in the games).
We're offered insight into the creators of the animatronics and the deaths that have happened due to them.

The book puts into place a lot of details we already know. We meet the animatronics; Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and of course, Freddy.

There are many different characters to keep track off within this story. Charlie is the main protagonist; a strong character with a sad past. Her Father having had died as well as her best friend.
Then you meet her various friends. Which can be difficult to a certain regard to keep up with.

The story is slow building, but I really enjoyed the lead up to the finale of the book. I loved the flashbacks/events that Charlie remembers as the mystery of Freddy's unravels. Her memories help piece together aspects that we had already learned from the games. Additionally, it provides a lot of new information that many wouldn't have known before such as the origin of the animatronics.

I know there are some mixed reviews with this book. It was originally self-published in 2015, before being rereleased in 2016 by Scholastic. I don't know how much has changed within the story and editing since the first release. But, as a fan of the games and story behind them; I was very happy reading this book.

I don't want to spoil anything from the story. So be sure to check it out if you think you'd enjoy it. I recommend this book for sure if you love the games and the world that Scott has created.
