Review:

**Thank you to PenguinRandom House Canada for sending me a free copy, in return for my honest review**

I have been loving thrillers recently and this one definitely tops as one of my favourites.

The story centres on Kate, a child psychiatrist who doubts her ability to help a new patient after one of her other patient’s commits suicide. But her new patient seems to know a lot of things about her past that she shouldn't know. Kate is forced to recall her past and remember her own sister's murder from sixteen years previous bring her face to face with her deepest fear.

The synopsis for this book alone had me intrigued and after reading the first few sentences, I couldn't stop reading until the very end.

The story is told from Kate’s perspective and is laid out in a linear manner with just one timeline to follow, although the past does play a huge role in the storyline. Kate was a very strong and likeable character and I really enjoyed following her journey. She has a dark past that she struggles with everyday and is forced to face yet again just when she thought it had all come to an end.

The full mystery doesn't take place until the second half of the book but there are moments of mystery scattered throughout the first half that left me wondering what was going to happen.

Alice Blanchard managed to surprise me several times. At one point I thought I had it figured out but then all my theories were thrown astray as more and more of the story progressed. I changed my mind several times on who Kate should and shouldn’t trust. This mystery is cleverly put together, everything fits, and I found this to be an addictive read.

I was on the edge of my seat till the very end. The mystery and thrill kept me hooked and I didn't want the story to end. Alice Blanchard is a fantastic author and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.
