Review:

**Thanks to PenguinRandom House Canada for sending me an arc**

The Smoke Thieves is a wonderful written book full of politics, conflicts and strong characters. It's a lengthy book and I admit I was nervous when starting. It did take a little while for me to first get into the book. There is a lot of description about the characters and world that I loved.

The story is very similar to Game of Thrones in that we follow various different characters in different classes.

My favourite characters were Catherine, Tash and Ambrose.
I was really enjoying their storyline and often wanted to skip other points of view to read more about the conflicts that they were facing.

All the characters were very well written. Catherine, Tash and Ambrose were the characters that stuck with me the most. They all had flaws but had great strength and personality. I didn't want anything to happen to them and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the book.

I loved the strength Catherine showed in particular. Despite growing up in a world where women are oppressed and controlled, she didn't let anything stop her. She stands up for herself and forges her own path. She's fallen in love with one of her guards, Ambrose, who also has a POV chapter. I loved how their romance was developed and that it wasn't thrown in as a major plot point.

There are a lot of characters and storylines to keep up with which could get confusing. Despite this flaw, I did love how eventually all of them intertwine and connect with one another. The characters have interesting storylines that kept me hooked on the edge of my seat.

Sally Green is a wonderful writer. She's created a world full of fantastic characters and an interesting world. The first-half of the book is fantastic but the second-half is even better. It ends in a way that's left me yearning for book two. I cannot wait to see what happens in the rest of the series.
