Synopsis:

Meet Pepper, swim team captain, chronic overachiever, and all-around perfectionist. Her family may be falling apart, but their massive fast-food chain is booming ― mainly thanks to Pepper, who is barely managing to juggle real life while secretly running Big League Burger’s massive Twitter account.

Enter Jack, class clown and constant thorn in Pepper’s side. When he isn’t trying to duck out of his obscenely popular twin’s shadow, he’s busy working in his family’s deli. His relationship with the business that holds his future might be love/hate, but when Big League Burger steals his grandma’s iconic grilled cheese recipe, he’ll do whatever it takes to take them down, one tweet at a time.

All’s fair in love and cheese ― that is, until Pepper and Jack’s spat turns into a viral Twitter war. Little do they know, while they’re publicly duking it out with snarky memes and retweet battles, they’re also falling for each other in real life ― on an anonymous chat app Jack built.

As their relationship deepens and their online shenanigans escalate ― people on the internet are shipping them?? ― their battle gets more and more personal, until even these two rivals can’t ignore they were destined for the most unexpected, awkward, all-the-feels romance that neither of them expected.

Review:

*I received a copy of this book from Indigo Books & Music Inc.
in exchange for an honest review*

This book was utterly charming.

I still consider myself a newbie when it comes to contemporary books, but this one was utterly adorable. Rivals turned lovers? Yes Please.

This book follows two characters: Pepper and Jack. The two run their families businesses social media accounts and soon the two cause a viral twitter war. In real life, the two slowly begin to fall for one another- but on an anonymous app that Jack built. Soon love between the two blooms and their online conflict begins to escalate.
Both the characters were written fantastically. Pepper and Jack both feel the pressure to follow in their families footsteps. Pepper feels forced to run the social media accounts for her Mother. She's more often than not forced into posting and feels forced in to causing the twitter feud with another company within the food industry.

Then we have Jack. He seems like the perfect match for Pepper. Jack also feels the struggle of continuing in his families footsteps but he finds a passion in coding and app creating. He creates an anonymous chat app that allows people at his school to connect without immediately revealing their identity. I really enjoyed this aspect of the book. I like that the app allowed students to make new friends and form new relationships by getting to know the person inside rather than what they look like. Jack is a twin and feels as if his parents favour him over his brother. However, his brother feels the exact same way and it comes to a conflict when his brother starts posting to the family business twitter account that causes issues for Pepper.

The twitter conflict between the two characters was done fantastically. Even when they come to realise who is behind the accounts the two still continue the conflict. Pepper and Jack don't want anyone to find out that they are behind the accounts, but of course nothing is safe when it comes to social media.

The romance between Pepper and Jack was my favourite aspect of the book. It wasn't an 'insta-love' situation which I'm not often a fan of. The two talked everyday using the app Jack had created, but unknown to PepperJack had manipulated the app so that they would remain anonymous until he changes the coding. Both characters were scared that they would disappointed when they found out the truth, but instead their relieved when the truth finally comes out. The relationship built between the two of them was utterly charming and I loved reading their interactions with one another.

If you want to read a cheesy, adorable and cute young adult romance then I highly recommend picking up this book.
