Synopsis:

The thrilling, genre-bending conclusion to Lady Helen's demon-hunting adventures, set in the glittering Regency world.

Lady Helen has retreated to a country estate outside Bath to prepare for her wedding to the Duke of Selburn, yet she knows she has unfinished business to complete. She and the dangerously charismatic Lord Carlston have learned they are a dyad, bonded in blood, and only they are strong enough to defeat the Grand Deceiver, who threatens to throw mankind into chaos. But the heinous death-soaked Ligatus Helen has absorbed is tearing a rift in her mind. Its power, if unleashed, will annihilate both Helen and Carlston unless they can find a way to harness its ghastly force and defeat their enemy.

In the final book of the trilogy that began with THE DARK DAYS CLUB and continued with THE DARK DAYS PACT, the intrepid Lady Helen's story hurtles to a shocking conclusion full of action, heartbreak, and betrayal.

Review:

**Thanks to Penguin Random House Canada for sending
me a copy in return for my honest review**

The Dark Days Deceit
is the final book in the Lady Helen trilogy.

This book continues on from where the last one left off. We continue to follow Lady Helen through her preparations to marry the Duke of Selburn and through her thoughts of the unfinished business she still has.

Lady Helen has developed into a strong and independent character. Her growth alone is just one aspect of this series that I loved. She is no longer the sheltered, young girl who is hoping for a good marriage match. Lady Helen has much more determination and strength to protect those that she cares about.

All the characters in this series are fantastic. Each one was well developed and has played a key role into the books as well as Helen's journey.

The romance between Helen and Carlston is fantastic. Their relationship was much more strained in this book, than previous, due to her upcoming wedding to Selburn. I loved that the romance never felt forced throughout the series. I really enjoyed their interactions and was rooting for the two of them throughout the series.

This is a big book, but it never felt too fast-paced. There was plenty of action. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. I loved this book and didn't want to put it down.

It is clear that a lot of research went into the regency era and historical accuracy to create this entire series. The places felt very authentic and I loved the descriptions.

I'm sad to see the characters and storyline finally come to an end. This wasn't my favourite book in the trilogy but I still enjoyed the book and loved the final ending. However, I would have loved an epilogue or an extra chapter to completely round the storyline off. I also would have preferred less focus on Helen's wedding preparations and more focus on the trouble brewing around them.

Alison Goodman has continued to build upon a beautifully written series bringing the storylines together for one epic conclusion.
