Bookmas Day Nine: Books I got for Christmas

Welcome to Bookmas Day 9 where I thought I would share with you all the books that I received  over the Christmas period.

I have a fair few to get through so let's jump to it.

Dragonfly in Amber 25th Anniversary Edition
by Diana Gabaldon

I read Outlander at the start of 2017 and loved it. It did take me a while to get through it but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I planned on buying the second one right away but then I found out about this edition coming out. So I waited and now I finally have my hands on it.

The story is about a woman named Claire who is thrown back in time to 17th century Scotland where she meets a man named Jaime Fraser. Many troubles await Claire as she struggles to cope with the past knowing what she does about the future.

I plan on reading it early next year and cannot wait. Be on the look out for my review of Outlander and this one sometime next year.

Seven Stones to Stand or Fall
by Diana Gabaldon

Another Outlander book on the list that I'm really looking forward to reading.

This one is a collection of novellas set in the Outlander world involving Jaime Fraser, Roger, Frank, John Grey and a few others.

Right now I'm not sure when I will read this one though it's likely I'll be reading it straight after Dragonfly in Amber.

Fangirl Collector's Edition
by Rainbow Rowell

I have wanted to read this book for the longest time and now I finally can. I have heard a lot of wonderful things about this novel and I really can't wait to delve into it myself.

Fangirl is about a girl called Cath who is a Simon Snow fan. Others may also be a fan but she is the biggest and it helped her and her sister cope with their Mother leaving.

I'm not sure what to expect but I hope I love it as much as everyone else seems too.

If you've read this book be sure to let me know down in the comments!

The Magic Misfits
by Neil Patrick Harris

Yep that's right; Neil Patrick Harris has released a middle-grade novel. As soon as I heard he had a middle-grade book coming out I knew I had to get my hands on it.

Magic Misfits is about a boy named Carter who has run away. Carter teams up with five other like-minded kids. Together, using both teamwork and magic, they'll set out to save the town of Mineral Wells from Bosso's villainous clutches.

I love Neil Patrick Harris so I can't wait to read this book.

An Enchantment of Ravens
by Margaret Rogerson

This book has been on my radar since I saw it all over the Bookstagram and Booktube community. The cover of this book is gorgeous and I'm hoping the story is as well.

Isobel is a skilled painter who is taken prisoner after painting mortal sorrow in the eyes of a royal fae; a move that could cost him his life. Furious and devastated, Rook spirits her away to the autumnlands to stand trial for her crime. There they begin to fall in love and now both their lives are in danger.

I'm really looking forward to this book so I hope it is as good as it seems.

The Disaster Artist
by Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell

This is the story of the worst movie ever. You may have heard of a little movie called The Room; probably the best worse movie ever made. If you haven't watched the movie I recommend; it's perfect if you want to have a good laugh with friends.

This novel is about that very movie; written by Greg Sestero, Tommy Wiseau's best friend, who co-starred in the best worse movie ever made.

I can't wait to read this novel and there is also a film based on the book that was recently released that I plan on going to see asap.

Ink
by Alice Broadway

Okay, so can we just talk about the book cover? It is probably one of the prettiest covers I've seen.

In Ink every action, deed and significant moment is tattooed onto your skin forever. When Leora's Father dies she wants him to be remembered forever. She wants to remove her Father's tattoos and turn them into a Skin Book. But when she discovers his ink has been edited leaving his Book incomplete, she wonders if she ever knew him at all.

This book isn't actually released until January 2nd but my local bookstore had some out early and I just had to pick one up.

Daughter of the Burning City

by Amanda Foody

I was really happy to receive this book. It's been on my radar since seeing it all over Booktube and Bookstagram so I quickly added it to my TBR list.

The main character is a 16 year old girl called Sorina who has spent most of her life inside the borders of
the Gomorrah Festival. She believes her illusions are not real until one of them is murdered. Desperate to protect her family, Sorina must track down the culprit and determine how they killed a person who doesn’t actually exist.

The book sounds fantastic and I've only heard good things so I cannot wait to start this one.
